Dear Parents, In EDC this week we started reading "The Mitten," a story about a little boy who asks his grandmother to make him a pair of white mittens. He loses one of his mittens and it becomes a home for many different animals! Finally, a mouse crawls in onto a bear's nose and the bear sneezes, pushing all the animals out of the mitten. The little boy finds his mitten and takes it home. We are working on our pre-literacy skills by sequencing the order of animals that go into the mitten. We are exploring using our senses by playing with ice and snow in our sensory table! To continue to develop or gross motor skills, we are learning about the ways the animals in the mitten move. We hope you enjoy seeing and learning about our adventures in EDC! Kind regards, Emily Cadman

Hi Parents! We are so excited to come back to school! From January 9th-24th we will be reading the story "The Snowy Day." While reading the story, an adult is using a small doll and other objects to "act out" the activities that the main character, Peter, is doing during his fun-filled snowy day. Students will be able to use the objects to retell the story independently which helps to build their understanding of sequencing events. We are beginning to work on matching skills such as matching pictures to pictures and matching pictures to objects. Stay tuned for pictures and more details of our learning! Students will continue to build their language and communication skills through songs and visuals. We have several art activities that connect to this story, such as making a paper towel roll snowman and a winter scene. We are continuing to build our fine motor skills by practicing cutting and painting. Please continue to send your child dressed for the weather (or ...

Food Bank Donations

Hi Parents!  Generosity club will be hosting Pajama Day on Wednesday, November 27, 2019! Generosity club is made up of a group of students who meet once a week to promote generosity and belonging at our school. At times, Generosity club will fundraise to support local programs or charities, such as the Mayor’s Food Drive during the holidays. We show how generous our students and families can be by helping those who may need it. Generosity club also hosts ‘Spirit Days’ throughout the year to help promote belonging in our school. The first of these days will be Pajama Day on November 27, 2019. Students and teachers are encouraged to wear pajamas to school that day, but please, do not send stuffies with your child. If you do not want to wear pajamas that day, please feel free to wear your Keeler shirt! There will be two additional spirit days later this school year. Generosity club is also starting up collection for the Calgary Food Bank. We will be...
