Dear Parents,

From December 2nd – 19th, we are focusing on seasonal winter activities! We are reading the story “The Gingerbread Man” with our own interactive characters! Students can choose a character and match the character to the events of the story! Students will be able to continue to build their language and communication skills through visuals, songs, and stories! We have several fine motor, gross motor, and art activities that all connect to this story. Students will continue to apply their knowledge of parts of the body to making their own paper gingerbread person! We are continuing to build our understanding of and independence with entry and exit routines by learning more about winter clothing! Students will also be able to continue to develop their fine motor skills with colouring, painting, cutting, and gluing as we learn about sorting objects.

Hi Parents,  Your child received a paper copy of the following notice today:  Dear EDC Parents, My name is Emily Cadman and I am a new EDC (Early Development Centre) teacher at Keeler School. I have already enjoyed the first few days of getting to know your child and am looking forward to continuing to work with them this year. Cold Weather Guidelines

Dear Parents, It is very important that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather, including hats, gloves, mittens, etc. We do not have enough clothing to lend out to kids who need these items and we also do not have the staff to be able to supervise a lot of kids inside on colder days over lunch and recess times. We will, however, have indoor recess and lunches when temperatures reach -20 Celsius or colder including wind-chill factor. Please see our guidelines below: CBE   Cold Weather Guidelines for On-Site Activities 
 When temperatures reach -20 Celsius or colder including the wind-chill factor, it is recommended that students be kept inside for recess or lunch breaks. The minus 20 Celsius guideline is comparable to other school jurisdictions in Alberta and across Canada.   note | this temperature is provided as a guideline and may be adjusted for the school/activity.
