Keeler School Update - Family Support - 2:45pm March 17th

Hello Parent(s)/Guardian(s), We recognize that your family may be significantly impacted by the COVID 19 outbreak. Here are some resources and supports that can help your family if food or other supports are needed during the upcoming weeks. It is important that you always check the websites of organizations however, as their locations, hours or procedures may change day to day. Alberta 211 |can be accessed via the telephone (dial 211) or by the website . The Calgary Food Bank | will be temporarily closed for part of the week of March 16-20. Families needing urgent food support are to access help via Alberta 211. Food hampers can be requested from the Calgary Food Bank by calling 403-253-2055. Brown Bagging for Calgary Kids | is offering a $20 grocery gift card for any child who has recently received a free lunch at school through Brown Bagging for Calgary Kids. COVID-19 Update - 7:00pm March 16th

Date March 16, 2020 Re: Pick up of personal items Dear Keeler Families, With the recent announcement of classes being cancelled, we want to ensure you that as a school, our priorities continue to be focused on student safety, teaching and learning. Currently, staff are working hard to develop plans that will help ensure that learning will still continue, accommodating for the new realities that we face. There will be further communication sent as soon as possible from our board. Please continue to check our school website, class blogs and school messenger updates. We need to ensure that all personal belongings are available for pick-up. Please read through the information below carefully to know when you are able to come and gather your child(s) belonging. Below is the process, instruction and time to pick up student belongings. Tuesday March 17th- Thursday March 19th Time for personal belonging pick-up: 8:30am-11:00am & 12:00pm-3:00pm. Keeler School Update - 10:30am March 16th

COVID-19 Update - 6:30pm March 15th

Dear Parents & Guardians, Alberta Education and Alberta Health Services has announced that all public schools will be cancelled and closed effective immediately (March 15 th , 2020 6:30pm).  There will be a Calgary Board of Education email sent to all families later this evening outlining details.  Please note the time of this email, as there was an update letter sent today at 1:30pm that no longer applies. COVID-19 Update - 1:30pm March 15th

Dear Parents,  The following message was sent out Sunday, March 15th at approximately 1:30pm. Updates will continue to be sent out via SchoolMessenger.  Date March 15 th , 2020 (Approximately 1:30pm) Hello Keeler Families, This week's update will focus on the COVID-19 pandemic and the information you need to know at this time. I apologize for the long message, but please take the time to read it and all the essential information it contains. Please note that at the time this message is coming to you, Keeler School and all CBE schools remain open for students. We will have students at Keeler on Monday, March 16 th through Wednesday, March 18 th for ALL students at regular school hours. Thursday March 19 th is an early dismissal with 8:30am-12:09pm hours for ALL students; NO pm EDC class that day. No CLASSES on Friday March 20 th as it is a scheduled non-instructional day. We respect your right as a parent to make attendance decisions that are right for your family.

March 9th-19th: Glad Monster, Sad Monster

We are continuing our exploration of feelings by reading Sad Monster, Glad Monster by one of our favourite authors, Ed Emberley! This book discusses various situations and how the monster feels about them and helps students to make the connections between events or things they are thinking about about how they are feeling. We are making our own feeling monsters in art and continuing our exploration of how different emotions make us feel and move in gym!

Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences CANCELLED

Dear Parents & Guardians Based on the changing provincial and local response to COVID-19, the CBE has given us direction to postpone our Learning Conversations (Student-Parent-Teacher conferences) scheduled for March 19 th , 2020 . In addition, ALL after school programs including Philkids, Reading & Running, YMCA, Teen Mentors and Mosiac club will be cancelled until further notice . All CBE schools have been given direction to postpone or cancel events that include populations from other schools and/or parents or other community members, such as Parent-Teacher Interviews, celebrations of learning, drama/musical performances, dances, athletic competitions, etc. This decision is effective from Mar. 12 until the end of March break. This decision will be revisited during March break to determine whether events should be rescheduled.
